Health Canada warns that the HAPDEN Travel Portable Crib Fence Bed Cradle available on Walmart.ca Marketplace may pose a risk of strangulation, entrapment and falling

Affected products

Baby nests and baby loungers are small beds for infants that are constructed much like a cushion. They typically have a quilted, cushioned, or fabric panel sleep surface that is surrounded by raised cushion sides (often bolster-type cushion sides).

This alert involves the following baby nest sold by Men (previously known as HAPDEN.CON.X) on Walmart.ca Marketplace:

  • HAPDEN Travel Portable Crib Fence Bed Cradle (label states Bionic Crib in Bed)

Issue

Health Canada has determined that the baby nest does not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada creating the potential for fall, strangulation and entrapment hazards. 

What you should do

Consumers who have the affected product should immediately stop using it and safely dispose of the item in such a way that it cannot be used again.

Regularly check the Healthy Canadians Recalls and Safety Alerts database for dangerous products and take action to remove items of concern.

Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of these products or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.

What is being done

The product has been removed from sale online from Walmart.ca Marketplace. Health Canada has contacted the foreign selling company and is advising consumers to immediately stop using the affected baby nest. Health Canada reminds consumers to learn about the risks of buying consumer products online (see Related Links above).

Health Canada reminds parents and caregivers that the safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back on a firm, flat surface intended for sleep. For more information on safe sleep practices for infants, see Health Canada's Consumer Information on Creating a safe sleep environment for your baby.

Walmart.ca Marketplace reported that 34 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.
