The affected product was sold as a 4-pack of snap-on outlet cover plates that resembles a regular wall plate but doubles as a night light. The product was sold on Amazon.ca under ASIN B082W66D6J. The product has two electrical prongs that extend from the back of the plate, which contact both sets of screws on any standard receptable and draw power for its three bottom-mounted LEDs. There are no batteries or wires, and the LEDs turn on and off automatically using a light sensor.

Health Canada has determined the affected product likely poses a danger to human health or safety and poses an unreasonable risk of electrical shock and fire.

What is being done
The product has been removed from sale from Amazon.ca. Health Canada has contacted the foreign third-party seller and is advising consumers to immediately stop using the affected wall plate cover LED night light.
Amazon.ca reported that 816 units were sold in Canada between November 2020 and August 2022.
To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.
