This recall involves KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen. The play kitchen is primarily black and light gray with wood-like countertops. It has a wooden horizontal dowel with metal or plastic hooks attached to it which hold toy kitchen accessories such as play pots and pans. The model number can be found on a sticker on the back of the play kitchen. The UPC code is located on the product's outer packaging/box.

Issue
If young children are climbing on the counter or crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchen, their clothing can get caught on the plastic or metal hooks meant to hold toy kitchen accessories such as play pots and pans, posing a strangulation hazard.
As of July 30, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has recently received one report of a child’s clothing getting caught on one of the product’s metal hooks while climbing and crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchen where the toy kitchen accessories are held. The child was unable to rescue himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia. The unit involved was not securely fastened to the wall creating a gap between the unit and the wall where a child was able to climb and have their clothes entangled with the hooks. No additional reports of incidents or injuries have been reported in the United States.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen and contact Backyard Kids for free replacement hooks. Ensure that the play kitchens are always securely anchored against a wall using the tip-over prevention kits that were provided with these units. The company will provide new tip-over prevention kits upon request.
