Affected products

This recall involves Makita brand 18V Cordless Grease Gun with model number DGP180Z, UPC 088381886819, and includes all tools imported to Canada. This tool may also be a component of the following kits: DGP180SYX1, UPC 088381752466 and DGP180YEX1, UPC 088381752473.

The 18V Cordless Grease Gun has a teal/black plastic housing with a machined, aluminum front housing and an aluminum cylinder directly under the teal/black housing and is described as an 18V LXT Grease Gun. The overall product length is 41.1 cm. and weighs 3.5 kg.

Makita Canada is also recalling items 191A80-4 600 mm flexible hose, UPC 08838155851 8; 191W59-7 600 mm flexible hose, UPC 088381585347 and 191W58-9 1200 mm flexible hose, UPC 088381585330.

The flexible hoses have a black rubber body with a silver threaded coupling on one end and a silver adapter on the other. The length of items 191A80-4 & 191W59-7 is 600 millimetres in length and item 191W68-9 is 1200 millimetres in length.

Issue

When the grease gun is pumping grease and the hose is bent near the adapter; a hole can be created in the hose and it may burst near the adaptor end of the hose. This may pose a laceration hazard to the operator.

As of March 28, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. The company has received 5 reports of lacerations with some injuries outside of Canada.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Makita Canada or one of their Factory Service Centres for instructions on how to return their product for repair.
