Issue

Issue:
On certain school buses, a software problem could cause the exterior warning lights to stop flashing. If this happens, the red warning lights can turn off suddenly. The stop sign and crossing arm will also retract.
Note for drivers: If this happens, the system indicator light will turn off. A driver can press the momentary activation switch to turn the warning lights back on and deploy the stop sign.

Safety Risk:
If the warning lights stop flashing and the stop sign retracts, other drivers may assume that it is safe to proceed when it is not. This could increase the risk of injury.

Corrective Actions:
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to update the software in the switch hub module.
