Issue

Issue:
On certain fire trucks, a buildup of road salt near the battery jumper studs could lead to a short circuit. If this happens, there could be electrical arcing (sparks) near the battery box. Electrical arcing could drain the battery and cause the truck not to start.

Safety Risk:
A short circuit could create the risk of a fire. A firetruck that does not start may cause a delay in responding to an emergency situation.

Corrective Actions:
KME will notify owners by mail. KME or its dealers will clean the jumper studs and their connections. The connections and wire terminals will also be sealed with a silicone electrical sealant.
