Issue:
On one fire truck, incorrect fasteners may have been used to mount the axial retarder. Over time, the fasteners could loosen and allow it to separate from the vehicle. If this happens, there could be a loss of vehicle control.
Safety Risk:
A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
KME will contact the owner and instruct them to take the fire truck to a dealer to inspect the mounting hardware on the axial retarder, and replace any incorrect hardware.
