Issue

Issue:
On a small number of vehicles, a nut on the transmission shift cable may not have been properly tightened. If the nut comes loose, the transmission may not shift gears when the shift lever is moved. This could cause the transmission to be in a different gear than what is indicated. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in the Park (P) position, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Safety Risk:
Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Subaru will inspect and tighten the transmission shift lever cable nut, if necessary.
