Issue

Issue:
When using the valet parking mode, a software problem could cause certain warning messages not to appear on the central information display. If this happens, the driver would not be alerted about these specific problems with vehicle components and/or systems. Additionally, it may not be possible to adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster. Canadian regulations require warning lights or messages to display when certain faults are detected. The regulations also require an adjustment for the brightness of the instrument cluster.

Safety Risk:
A driver that does not get warning messages about problems with vehicle components and/or systems could have an increased risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the head unit software.
