Issue:
On certain vehicles, water could enter the tailgate struts and cause them to corrode. If this happens, the struts could fail, and the tailgate could drop suddenly.
Safety Risk:
A tailgate that drops suddenly could increase the risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
Mitsubishi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the tailgate struts.
