Issue
Issue:
On certain vehicles, water could leak into the rear door handle(s) and cause the door opener switch(es) to short circuit. If this happens, the rear door(s) could open unexpectedly while driving.
Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-228. Vehicles repaired under that recall also require this repair.
Safety Risk:
A door that opens while driving could create a risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Toyota recommends that you enable the automatic door locking function through the vehicle's head unit. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to modify the rear door switch circuits.
