Affected products
This recall involves the TRUBLUE iQ and iQ+ Auto Belay Devices which enable climbers to climb alone safely. The device is gray with blue handles. 12.5m versions have a blue tag about the webbing handgrip and 20m versions have a purple tag above the webbing handgrip. iQ+ versions in either length have an additional cylindrical element with a blue label on the front. Device serial numbers are on a label located on the handle or on the recertification label on the bottom of the housing.
A limited number of TRUBLUE Speed Auto Belay devices may have been assembled with a component that was incorrectly manufactured.

Issue
Head Rush Technologies has discovered a component on a limited number of auto belay devices that, if mounted below specific heights, could cause impaired retraction and pose a fall and injury hazard for the climber.
As of October 7, 2024, the company has received 1 report of impaired retraction in Canada, and no report of injury.
