- Ils peuvent contenir des ingrédients qui ne figurent pas sur l'étiquette. Contexte
L'acétaminophène est un médicament qui peut présenter de graves risques pour la santé, notamment des lésions hépatiques, s'il est pris en trop grande quantité. Cela peut entraîner une insuffisance hépatique ou, dans les cas les plus graves, la mort. Les premiers signes d'une surconsommation d'acétaminophène sont les suivants : nausées, vomissements, léthargie, transpiration, perte d'appétit et douleurs dans la partie supérieure de l'abdomen ou de l'estomac. Les douleurs abdominales peuvent être le premier signe d'une atteinte hépatique et ne se manifester qu'après 24 à 48 heures. L'acétaminophène peut également provoquer des réactions cutanées graves. Les symptômes comprennent la formation de cloques, le rougissement de la peau et des éruptions cutanées.
La dapoxétine est un médicament utilisé pour le traitement de l'éjaculation précoce dont la vente n'est pas autorisée au Canada. Les effets secondaires qui nécessitent une attention médicale comprennent : une attaque subite de sommeil; des mouvements incontrôlables du visage, des paupières, de la bouche, de la langue, du cou, des bras, des mains ou des jambes; de la nausée ou des vomissements graves ou persistants; une arythmie cardiaque ou des palpitations dans la poitrine; des hallucinations; des vertiges lorsqu'on se lève rapidement; des changements inhabituels de l'humeur ou du comportement.
La prastérone est une substance désignée au Canada. Elle est approuvée en tant qu'hormone stéroïde d'ordonnance pouvant être insérée dans le vagin pour le traitement de l'atrophie vulvovaginale postménopausique, un problème médical caractérisé par l'amincissement et le séchage des parois vaginales qui peuvent se produire à la ménopause. Il est illégal de vendre des substances désignées sans l'autorisation de Santé Canada. La prastérone n'a pas été approuvée au Canada pour toute autre utilisation, ou sous forme orale (c. à d. pris par la bouche). La prastérone est transformée par le corps en hormones androgènes et œstrogènes. Les hormones androgènes peuvent augmenter le risque de subir des dommages au foie, une crise cardiaque, un accident vasculaire cérébral, la réduction de la fécondité, le durcissement des artères, le développement de caractéristiques masculines chez les femmes (p. ex. augmentation des poils faciaux) et agrandissement ou sensibilité des seins ou mamelons mâles. Les hormones œstrogènes peuvent augmenter le risque d'hypertension artérielle, de maux de tête, de cancer du sein et de l'utérus et de caillots sanguins. Les personnes qui ont des antécédents de cancer du sein, de saignement vaginal anormal ou qui sont enceintes ou qui allaitent ne doivent pas utiliser la prastérone. Les risques liés à la prastérone augmentent en fonction de la dose. Les conséquences à long terme de la prastérone sur la santé ne sont pas connues.
Le sildénafil est un médicament d'ordonnance servant au traitement de la dysfonction érectile qui doit être pris uniquement sous la supervision d'un professionnel de la santé. Le sildénafil est à proscrire chez les personnes prenant des médicaments à base de nitrate (comme la nitroglycérine), car il peut causer une hypotension potentiellement mortelle. Les personnes qui ont des troubles cardiaques risquent davantage de subir des effets secondaires cardiovasculaires tels que crise cardiaque, accident vasculaire cérébral (AVC), douleurs thoraciques, hypertension et arythmie. Maux de tête, bouffées vasomotrices, indigestion, étourdissements, troubles de la vision et perte auditive sont d'autres effets secondaires possibles. Le desméthyle carbodénafil, le dithiodesméthyle carbodénafil et l'hydroxythiohomosildénafil sont des substances non autorisées semblables au sildénafil et peuvent poser des risques similaires pour la santé.
Le Tadalafil est un médicament d'ordonnance servant au traitement de la dysfonction érectile qui doit être pris uniquement sous la supervision d'un professionnel de la santé. Le tadalafil est à proscrire chez les personnes prenant des médicaments à base de nitrate (comme la nitroglycérine), car il peut causer une hypotension potentiellement mortelle. Le nortadalafil est une substance non homologuée semblable au tadalafil qui pourrait présenter des risques semblables pour la santé. Le fait de prendre du tadalafil en association avec de la caféine augmente le risque de réactions graves, comme des crises cardiaques, des accidents vasculaires cérébraux, des fluctuations de la tension artérielle, une arythmie cardiaque, des maux de tête et des étourdissements.
Yohimbine est un médicament d'ordonnance qui doit être pris que sous la supervision d'un professionnel de la santé. La yohimbine est un dérivé de yohimbe, un extrait d'écorce. L'utilisation de la yohimbine ou de yohimbe peut avoir des conséquences graves, particulièrement pour les personnes présentant une tension artérielle élevée, ou celles touchées par les maladies du cœur, des reins ou du foie. Les effets secondaires peuvent inclure une augmentation de la tension artérielle et une accélération du rythme cardiaque, de l'anxiété, des étourdissements, des tremblements, des maux de tête, des nausées et des troubles du sommeil. Les enfants, les personnes enceintes et qui allaient devraient éviter le produit, les personnes souffrant de maladies hépatiques, cardiaques ou rénales (notamment les personnes ayant des antécédents d'ulcères de l'estomac ou de l'intestin), ou les personnes atteintes de troubles psychiatriques.
