Affected products

This recall involves the Goal Zero Yeti Link Module (“Link”). The Link is a charge controller and was sold as an optional upgrade to Goal Zero Yeti power stations. The Link installs into the power stations to enable the lithium battery contained within the power station to be charged by lead acid, auxiliary batteries (such as the Yeti Tank). The Link is connected to these auxiliary batteries by the 12 foot EC8 Extension Cable, the Male EC8 to Ring cable, the Female EC8 to Ring cable and the MPPTx to Ring cable (in differing combinations depending on the user’s particular needs). 

The defect is found in the connection between male and female EC8 connections.  These connections are made between the following products, the Male EC8 to Ring (98203 or 98204), the Female EC8 to Ring Cable (98202 and 98205), the EC8 12’ Extension Cable (98201 or 98206), and the Yeti Link Expansion Module (98200 and 98210).   

These products may also have been sold with Yeti Tank models (23100 or 23105) and various kits that include the Yeti Tank, the Yeti Link Car Charge Kit (44200), the Yeti Link Vehicle Integration Kit (44201), the 50 Amp External MPPT (98090), and the 30 Amp External MPPT (98085).



Issue

The EC8 connector between the Yeti Link and various cable can be damaged.  A damaged connection can result in melting or burning cables and can create a burn or fire hazard.

As of June 12, 2024, the company has received 1 report of incident involving property damage in Canada, and no report of injury. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of incidents of fire resulting in significant property damage and no reports of injury.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Goal Zero LLC for replacement kit. Consumers should dispose of the affected products in accordance with municipal electronic waste requirements.
