Affected products
This recall involves TRUBLUE iQ and iQ+ Auto Belay Devices which enable climbers to climb alone safely. The device is gray with blue handles. 12.5m versions have a blue tag above the webbing handgrip and 20m versions have a purple tag above the webbing handgrip. IQ+ versions in either length have an additional cylindrical element with a blue label on the front. Device serial numbers are on a label located on the handle or on the recertification label on the bottom of the housing. Note: Recertification dates AFTER 3DEc2024 have been inspected and/or repaired.

Issue
Head Rush Technologies has discovered that a limited number of the auto belay devices may have been assembled with a component that can cause impaired retraction and pose a fall and injury hazard for climbers.
As of March 3, 2025, the company has received 4 reports of retraction issues and no reports of injuries in Canada.
